Between October 14-18, 2024, one staff member of BME DMSE, Donát Takács, department engineer, made a professional visit to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech). The primary goal of the visit was to foster the long-standing professional relationship between our institutions, and to prepare for future collaborations and partnerships in areas where the competencies of the two universites overlap or complement each other. There was also an opportunity to share best practices in education and exchange experiences regarding the current challenges of university-level engineering education.
During his stay, our colleague attended two university lectures held in English and visited the campus and several department laboratories, including the Laboratory of Casting Technology, Laboratory of Mechanical Testing and Metrology, Protolab, Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Robotics Demo Center. Informal discussions with local colleagues also provided insight into local educational activities and research work, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence applications, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and VR/AR/XR/MR (virtual, augmented, extended, and mixed reality).
As part of the mobility program, our colleague gave a presentation introducing the educational portfolio and current research activities of BME DMSE. The partner department showed particular interest in our department’s artificial intelligence research. The visit was positively evaluated by all participants, highlighting potential further collaboration, especially in the field of robotics.
The visit was funded by the ERASMUS+ Staff mobility programme at BME.
