Professional Visit to the Technical University of Ostrava

Posted on 2025.04.14. By Takács Donát

On April 10–11, 2025, representatives of our Department – Dr. Márton Takács and Dr. István Németh, Associate Professors, along with Donát Takács, Department Engineer – undertook a professional visit to VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (Ostrava, Czechia).

The visit served to foster the existing academic collaboration between the two institutions and included participation in the 2nd Czech-German Business Meeting workshop. This event provided a valuable opportunity to explore potential future partnerships and joint initiatives with fellow participants, as well as to review the current status of ongoing collaborative projects.

As part of the visit, the delegation held constructive discussions with Dean Robert Čep of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Head of Department Jiří Koziorek of the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering. The meetings were regarded as mutually beneficial by all parties. In addition to academic and research-related topics, joint funding applications and participation in international mobility programs (Erasmus+, CEEPUS) were also discussed.

To conclude the visit, our colleagues toured several of the university’s laboratories, including the Protolab 3D Printing Centre, Smart Factory, Machining Laboratory, and Robotics Laboratory, where they gained insights into the institution’s ongoing research and educational activities.

The visit was funded by the ERASMUS+ Staff mobility programme at BME.
