On 28 September 2026, the MAZAK CV5-500 five-axis machining centre arrived at the Department’s workshop in Building G; its commissioning and tooling-up will take place over the coming weeks. Our students will primarily have the opportunity to work directly with the machine during laboratory practicals and as part of their TDK projects, dissertations, degree projects and PhD research.
The installation of the machine was carried out under a cooperation agreement between MAZAK and the Department. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to MAZAK for their generous professional support, which is greatly contributing to the modernisation of our educational infrastructure!
The arrival of the machine is closely related to:
- the replacement of the gate on the Egry József Street side of the G building with a modern sectional door, including its widening to accommodate today’s machine tool dimensions, funded from central university resources (the works are still in progress);
- the complete refurbishment of the floor structure at the MAZAK machine’s installation site to meet the technical requirements for machine installation, including the application of synthetic resin.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to BME for its institutional support in the implementation of these investments!
