The theses and final exams are organized within the framework of the current Code of Studies<\/a><\/strong> and Faculty Regulations<\/a><\/strong>. For details not provided below, these documents are authoritative.<\/p>\n

Choosing a final project topic and registering to a final project course<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first step in the process of writing a thesis is to find a topic for the final project. The thesis project can be prepared both at a company and at a department. The available topics advertised by our department can be found HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. Use filters to find the right projects for your program. Click on the line for details on each topic. If you are interested in a topic from the list below, contact the Supervisor named in the fourth column.<\/p>\n

If you have a specific idea of what field you want to work on, you can contact the professor working on that topic directly and ask for a final project topic. You can find the professors’ research interest on the department’s staff page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please, make sure you apply to that Final Project or Master Thesis Project course in Neptun, that is connected to the same department which you will write your thesis in!<\/strong><\/p>\n

To complete the final project in our department, you have to register the corresponding course in the Neptun system. For a bachelor thesis register to Final Project (BMEGEGTBKSD), for the first semester of a master thesis register to Master Thesis Project A (BMEGEGTNKDA) and for the second semester of a master thesis register for Master Thesis Project B (BMEGEGTNKDB).<\/p>\n

At the same time as registering, please notify the responsible person for thesis and master thesis of your intention to write a final project.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Completing Master Thesis Project A+B courses simultaneously<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If the requirements specified in the Code of Studies are met, it is possible to take Master Thesis Project A and B together, i.e. to write the master thesis in 1 semester. If the requirements are met, the student can register for both courses in the Neptun system. If the described requirements are not fulfilled, request E018<\/a> must be submitted to Neptun, to which a support statement from the supervisor must be attached.<\/p>\n

Always discuss with the supervisor, before registering for both courses!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Classified final project<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the case of certain topics, the company or institution may request the closed handling of the thesis. At the special request of the host company, the university handles the student’s thesis project classified. The Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs may authorize the classified treatment of the thesis.<\/p>\n

Regarding of submitting a closed treatment request, please contact the responsible person for thesis and master thesis.<\/p>\n

Preparing and submitting the thesis<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In all cases, the supervisor will provide information about the tasks of preparing the thesis. The template document prepared by the Faculty provides assistance in the formal design of theses. The template can be found here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Continuous contact and consultation with the supervisor is expected during the preparation of the thesis!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exact deadline for submitting the thesis is included in the Final Project assignment sheet, but the deadline is usually the last day of the study period. In the final version of the thesis the Final Project assignment sheet must be included and has to be signed by the student. The declarations also has to be signed, one by the supervisor (Declaration about the acceptability of the thesis<\/em>) and one by the student (Declaration about the independent work<\/em>). The thesis can not be accepted without these signatures. Once all the requirements are fulfilled, the thesis can be digitally signed by the supervisor and the signed pdf document can be submitted to the department and into the Neptun system.<\/p>\n

In addition to the supervisor, the completed theses will be evaluated by an external reviewer.<\/p>\n

Final examinations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Students complete their bachelor and master programme by taking their final examinations. The final exams consist of two parts, defending the bachelor or master thesis and exams per subjects or subject groups, in accordance with the criteria set out in the curriculum.<\/p>\n
